Honoring Those Who Served

Powhatan's War Memorial has stood since 1950. Honoring veterans is still one of our three founding missions. This page is for veterans, service members, and their families.

Cane-fu for Veterans

A self-defense and exercise system that builds balance, confidence, and safety with a cane. No experience needed.

Classes are led by Tom Ashmore, a Vietnam veteran and founder of Cane Loyalty, which has trained more than 2,000 Virginia veterans. Every veteran at a seminar receives a free hardwood cane. Adapted training is available for wheelchair users, caregivers, and veterans missing a hand or arm.

Next Class - November 14

Coming Soon: Virginia DVS

We are partnering with the Virginia Department of Veterans Services to bring benefits help closer to home.

DVS helps veterans and families file federal benefit claims and connects them to health care, housing, jobs, and education.
